The Helth Informatics Laboratory was founded in 1996 at the Department of Nursing of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and its main objective is to train students of the Department of Nursing by enabling them acquire the necessary skills in digital health (e.g. health analytics, machine learning in health, artificial intelligence in health) in order to adequately address existing and upcoming challenges in their workplaces. Health Informatics Laboratory covers educational and research needs of the Department of Nursing in areas such as health data management, intelligent health information systems, intelligent electronic health record, artificial intelligence, machine learning in health, health analytics, health process analytics and biomedical informatics and technology.

Two behavioural science laboratories operate within the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Business and Administration: the Centre for Applied Behavioural Economics and the ABC Lab (Administration, Business, Communication Laboratory). Their activities focus on both individual and aggregate decision-making processes, knowledge that is essential for understanding consumption behaviour, addressing collective actions, managing crises, improving public and governmental communication, and combating detrimental social phenomena such as misinformation. In addition to their core research, the laboratories also engage in public policy and business consulting, offering normative recommendations and conducting impact evaluations.

MediaLab/RadioSapienza is Sapienza University’s multimedia and university radio lab, acting as a training and production hub for innovative audio‑visual and digital storytelling formats. It brings together students, academics and external partners in hands‑on activities ranging from podcasting and visual radio to video production, live streaming and social media campaigns. Within the lab is RadioSapienza, the official web radio of Sapienza University of Rome, which plays a key role as a platform for experimenting with innovative communication languages, didactic formats, and participatory practices. RadioSapienza also contributes to research and practice on countering misinformation and disinformation, while strengthening the university’s connection with civil society through programmes, partnerships and co‑created initiatives with communities and organisations.
Within an international framework such as the CIVIS Open Labs, MediaLab/RadioSapienza operates as an interface between the university and society, co‑creating communication projects that address concrete social challenges with local communities and stakeholders. In the “Combating Health Misinformation” CIVIS OPEN LAB project, the lab contributes its expertise in media production and media literacy to design and disseminate engaging, multilingual digital content – especially podcasts and short multimedia formats – that support citizens, young people and vulnerable groups in critically assessing online health information.
By integrating challenge‑based learning and service‑learning approaches, the lab enables CIVIS students from different disciplines to work together in transnational teams, transforming research on health misinformation into accessible narratives and formats for a broad public. In doing so, MediaLab/RadioSapienza strengthens the university’s civic mission, reinforces the network of local and European partners, and contributes to the long‑term sustainability and scalability of Open Lab initiatives across the CIVIS alliance.
